Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) that operates globally and consists of 80 national organisations, over 5,000 local chambers and over 200,000 members worldwide.

The core themes of JCI are about promoting an active platform on which members can grow, learn, lead, network and socialise. They run community projects, networking events, training sessions, conferences and social events.

JCI Bradford is Bradford's local chamber and has been running since 1959.

JCI (on a global scale) commits to developing the leaders of the future (both business and civic) - past members include Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Kofi Annan, however, however, locally business leaders such as Judith Donovan CBE, John Pennington, John Eaton, Richard Wightman OBE and Geoffrey Wilson (dec'd) have all enjoyed membership of JCI Bradford.

JCI Bradford is launching its Leadership Academy, a programme of activities intended to be carried out throughout their membership year in order to not only get the most value but also to grow and reach their full potential as young, active citizens.

Vision
To be the largest network of young active citizens in Bradford

Mission
To empower young people to create a positive change in their communities and help them be better in their personal and professional lives

The Programme

Take up a council position

JCI Bradford is run by a council of Directors. The directors are ordinary members looking to excel in their respective fields with minimal risk. Having a leadership role in a respected organisation is a great way to add value and grow as an individual. JCI Bradford has the following vacancies for 2015

- Strategic Partnership Director - Help find new patrons
- Admin Director - Co-ordinate JCI Meetings and assist with the delivery of the Chamber
- Membership Director - Ensuring members are engaged, finding more members and chasing payments
- Social Director - Organise monthly social events and promote them to members
- Fundraising Director - Organise fundraising events to raise money for local charities

All roles are voluntary but roles are delivered to the extent the member wishes to commit

Organise a local event
This could be any of the following activities:
- Community Project
- Networking Event

Attend 3 Training Sessions
JCI Bradford organises training sessions for its members. Some examples of sessions the chamber will be running include:

Master 1 of the 3 core JCI disciplines
Across the globe, JCI has 3 core disciplines. These include:

- Public Speaking

- Extempore (off-the-cuff public speaking)

- Debating

In order to succeed in these disciplines, JCI across the world routinely organises competitions and a victory in any local, regional, national or international event will prove the members is a ‘Master'

Attend 1 National Event
JCI UK organises various meetings, conferences, competitions, dinners and academies throughout the year. They represent a great way to network internally within JCI, meet fellow members and get a feel for how the organisation works on a national and international level

On Completion
On completion of JCI Bradford's Leadership Academy, the member will be awarded a certificate of merit and a physical award. The member will also receive an honorary mention at JCI Bradford's Annual Dinner. Of those who complete the JCI Bradford Leadership Academy, all graduates will be judged by a panel of long-standing JCI Bradford members (with advice given by other JCI UK members) and the winner will receive either one year's free membership or a bursary towards attending an international event
