ABOUT JCI
What have Al Gore, Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, Kofi Annan and half of the Japanese parliament got in common? They were all members of JCI – the Junior Chamber International. We’re also known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce or the British Junior Chamber.
JCI is a unique volunteer network for people in their 20s and 30s. Run by its own members, it is nearly 100 years old and exists in more than 100 countries. Many of those who have ‘graduated’ from JCI have become great leaders, outstanding professionals and successful entrepreneurs.
Mission: ‘To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.’
Get stuck in – and you’ll stick out
JCI is an opportunity to further yourself while making a real difference. As thousands of JCI alumni with successful and fulfilling careers testify, the best way to invest in yourself and your future is to get involved and contribute as best you can.
If you do, then you will find that JCI offers an exceptional opportunity for you to develop your skills, both professional and personal, in a thoroughly enjoyable way. You can do this though both formal training events and practical activities.
Through JCI, you could, for example:
- Help set up a charity event or a business visit (organisational skills)
- Join the local and national board (management and communication skills)
- Get training in debating or public speaking (professional skills)
- Take on a local, national or international role on the council or on a committee (leadership skills)
- Organise a local project (management skills)
- Liaise with a local company (business skills)
- Try a new challenge (self-confidence)
The reward of being active within JCI far outstrips any commitment. And of course, the more skilled and confident you become, the more of a difference you and JCI can make. How’s that for a positive feedback loop?
"We learn best in moments of enjoyment."
JCI a global network
